- August 14, 2023Mason’s Honors College and Early Identification Program (EIP) promote access to inclusive excellence. EIP serves first-gen high school students and offers programming such as the College Application Coaches program. EIP alumni entering the Honors College are awarded full tuition scholarships. The partnership strengthens EIP’s mission of educating the whole student and advances the Honors College’s commitment to increasing access to transformative academic, civic, and professional experiences.
- July 17, 2023Kristen Alleyne, a senior at George Mason University, has been named a 2023 Public Health Scholar through the John R. Lewis CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholars program. She will join a cohort at UCLA to gain hands-on experience in public health. Alleyne is also involved in various student organizations on campus, including the Caribbean Student Association and Patriots for Health Assistance. The Office of Fellowships helped her with the application process.
- July 11, 2023Meet the two rising seniors who won a competitive scholarship within the Honors College: Aarush Jambunathan and Sebastian Rodinov.
- July 3, 2023Three motivated Honors College students, Lina Hussein, Rakibul Alam Anik, and Molly Izer, presented their ambitious research projects to The George Mason Board of Trustees. Lina explored the impact of Affordable Care Act provisions on safety in hospitals serving vulnerable populations, Rakibul focused on sustainable agriculture to address soil salinity in Bangladesh, and Molly studied the function and benefits of congressional caucuses. These students showcased their research skills learned in Honors 110 and received guidance from professors during their studies. Their presentations demonstrated the potential of Honors College students to ask good questions, evaluate evidence, and approach research with openness.
- June 23, 2023Richard Todd Stafford taught youths about water quality and pollution indicators through the “Walton Wednesday” program. The program encourages youths to learn about environmental science and outdoor recreation. Stafford facilitated a hands-on experience monitoring water pollution.
- June 16, 2023Honors College students on Mason’s softball team won the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship for the first time. These students excel in various areas and show exceptional leadership skills on and off the field.
- June 15, 2023The Honors College expresses its gratitude to Ms. Catherine Riley for her service on the Honors College Dean’s Advisory Board and for helping shape our university into what it is today. As she departs from the board, we thank her for her time and commitment and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
- May 15, 2023Game design lead Myles Alexander to the George Mason University Computer Science department, where he honed his software skills.
- May 11, 2023Track and field triple jumper Dhiambi Otete balanced her mechanical engineering major, the Honors College, and being a student-athlete to prepare herself for life after Mason.

- May 10, 2023McKenzie Lauber is graduating from George Mason University this month with a bachelor of social work degree and a minor in criminology.
- May 9, 2023Local student Rosy Sultana overcame challenges to succeed in George Mason University's Honors College. She graduates this May with a degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering and Computing.
