In the Honors College, you will join a tight-knit community that provides all the opportunities offered by Virginia's largest research university. You'll enjoy an enriched academic and social environment where you can make a home for yourself and receive the support you need to excel.
Each year, we accept:
- Students applying to attend George Mason for their first year of college
- Transfer students who have previously attended other Universities
- Students who already attend Mason, but who are not already part of the Honors College.
We especially encourage students who will be the first in their families to attend college in the United States to apply.
How can I apply?
To be considered for the Honors College, prospective first year students should submit their online Mason application by November 1st. In the application, students will be given the option to apply and express their interest in the Honors College, so be sure to check the box! Current George Mason students and transfer students should follow the application guidelines. There is no minimum GPA or required test score. Admission to the Honors College is competitive and based on a holistic application review. The standards by which students are considered for admissions change each year depending on the applicant pool.

The Honors College has small class sizes with students who are as driven and passionate as you are. Honors College students take unique courses that fulfill their Mason Core requirements, while providing them with a challenging environment to explore and tackle multidisciplinary problems.
