Each summer in the final week before classes begin, the rising sophomore cohort moves in for the semester early and participates in a weeklong Institute focused on a topic of their choosing. Scholars spend the week hearing from Mason faculty and expert practitioners, will identify and propose solutions to challenging problems related to the topic, and, when possible, will travel off-campus to site visits at locations that add to learning. While Institute is required of rising second-years, all Scholars are welcome to attend.
