Academic Advising

Help available when you need it

Appointments with your academic advisor will begin during your first few days on campus and continue to build a solid groundwork for a successful, supported academic career. Your advisor will not only help you to transition into the Honors College, they will be a go-to resource when it comes to navigating important decisions about your studies. Their advice represents an extra boost to your advancement beyond traditional advising available through your major, so make sure to touch base with them at least once a semester. 

For the time being, advising in the Honors College will be primarily virtual with limited in person appointments. Students are encouraged to email their advisors for advising questions, or to set up an advising appointment.  Advisors can be found below, by major. For general advising questions, please email hcadvise@gmu.edu. When emailing your advisor or hcadvise@gmu.edu, please include your G#. It can take advisors 3-5 business days to respond to your inquiry.  Please do not send multiple emails. 

If you have questions for the Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, or the Registrar’s office, please visit the Mason Student Success Center webpage. You can submit your questions through their online portal.

Advising is important to your success

Honors College Advisors are available to help you succeed in the Honors College and in your Major. You should make appointments with advisors on the basis of your major.

Step 1: Find the Honors College advisor for your discipline    

You may register using the Personal Availability Link in this table. If you have questions, you may email your advisors at the email addresses provided below.

Step 2: Schedule Your Appointment Today

There are two ways to schedule an appointment with an advisor

I. Use the advisor's Personal Availability Link (PAL) in the table above

1. Click on the Personal Availability Link (PAL) for the advisor for your major or the major you are interested in to log into Navigate.
2. You will enter your NetID and password, then click login. If this is your first time logging into the scheduler on a computer or device, then you will need to click "accept" to allow the sign-on.
3. If the advisor only has one service available, you will see this service as being pre-selected. If the advisor has multiple services, click on the service that indicates advising.
4. Please select “FIND AVAILABLE TIME.” Available meeting dates and times will be displayed in blue. Click on the date and time that fits best with your schedule.
5. Once you have scheduled an appointment, make note of any additional details provided by the advisor, select a preferred reminder method, then click "Confirm Your Appointment"

II. Log into Navigate without using the personal availability link

1. Click the image above or go to https://gmu.campus.eab.com/ to access the Navigate Mason (formerly SSC Campus) advising tool. 
2. You will enter your NetID and password, then click login. If this is your first time logging into the scheduler on a computer or device, then you will need to click "accept" to allow the sign-on.
3. On your student home in Navigate Mason, select the "Get Assistance" button in the upper right hand corner.
4. To schedule an appointment with your Honors College advisor, select "Advising" and then "Honors College." 
5. Select "Honors College Advising" as your service, then click "Next."
6. Confirm your location as "Honors College," since advising appointments take place in the Honors College offices in Buchanan Hall 203 and 205. 
7. Choose your advisor from the drop-down list. You must meet with the advisor for your discipline, major, or interest area.
8. Available meetings will be displayed in blue. 
9. Once you have scheduled an appointment, make note of any additional details provided by the advisor, select a preferred reminder method, then click "Confirm Your Appointment"
