Biography

Dr. Woolsey has a BA and MA in English Studies from Illinois State University, where he focused on innovative fiction and postcolonial theory, especially the work of Franz Fanon. He holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from George Mason University and completed fields in critical theory and visual culture. His dissertation focused on the militarized integration of rights, development and relief discourses during the height of the Global War or Terror. In addition to serving on the executive council of the Virginias Collegiate Honors Council, Woolsey is currently working on projects that explore the impact of honors curricula on transfer populations and the impact of undergraduate mentoring and service learning on students long-term career paths.
